Well, as it seems it is practically over, I thought I would ask the question. What is next? Well, next is finishing the novel, of course! I’m proud of what I managed to achieve in under a month, but the push continues. The experience I’ve had through NaNoWriMo has allowed me to gain more than I could believe. It gave me a determination to finish what I had started and follow through with it. As we speak, I’m making new connections with publishers and looking into self-publishing. Asking authors what they think the best course is and generally learning all I can.
It’s an exciting step.
You may also notice that the Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts for The Kingmaker Saga have all been setup (obviously, long over due.) I’m making definitive progress towards getting this done. I am still around 30,000 words short, maybe more, but the story takes time to unfold for me as well. Fantasy Fiction is an amazing category to write in and allows so much depth to be pursued. The characters that grace my pages have all been built with care and attention and allowed to flourish. Some have plunged to much darker depths than I had imagined, while some have risen high than I could have thought. Their evolution in front of me is breath taking.
I’m enjoying writing it and, when it’s done, I sincerely hope you all enjoy reading it. It should take you on a journey that you will never forget.
Welcome to another update on how The Kingmaker is shaping up. First off, I have finally hit the 50,000 word mark for NaNoWriMo 2013 and officially been declared a winner. This is a big achievement for me and I’m very proud. The motivation that NaNoWriMo has given me has compelled me to push forward with my book and has really broken all my boundaries. With that I am also looking further into publishing my work. Looking up various book publisher for self publishing and seeing what options I have.
You may have also noticed that I now, finally, have a twitter account! You can follow me @KingmakerSaga on twitter, just click the link to the right and get updates as I post them. It’s the easiest way for you all to keep abreast with what’s happening with the book.
I’ve also flown through to Chapter 32 in the novel and seen some great character and story progression, the story is in full swing and the conspiracy against our Kingmaker and the those it affects have all been set in motion, though the catastrophic series of events that follows as a result will hopefully have you on the edge of your seat, burning through to make it to the next chapter.
Till next time,
Today, I became very proud of myself. Not only are we just coming towards the end of week 3 of NaNoWriMo, but I have also managed to achieve 45,000 making me way ahead of schedule for completing NaNoWriMo for this year! This is my first in NaNoWriMo and I’m already patting myself on the back for knowing that I will finish in this first year. But this first book is far from over. Of course we are on Chapter 28 and that means we are quite far into the story. Lots of exciting things have happened and there have already been some characters who have met their demise. It’s been quite tense trying to tell the story that has been playing out in my head but it seems to be working.
Last time I blogged I put up the cover for the book for everyone to see. I’m looking at getting this book published as you all know so having the cover is obviously a step in the right direction.
The Kingmaker is now the official title of the first in the trilogy of books that will in the end make the saga. Of course that means there will be, possibly, three trilogies in total spanning three generations of Kingmakers. With Christmas coming up I’m working hard to get it all ready so you can all have your own copies but it leaves me with the complicated problem of whether to to have a Print to Order, so for every one of you that orders the book online will receive a real copy in your hands from the book publisher or to have an ebook and publish it this way to have it easily distributed to the masses.
Of course, I can only hope that it will all come together and be a successful book series. I hope you all enjoy it when it comes out.
Hello once again followers of the saga yet to be written! I say this because it is still in progress as you all know. NaNoWriMo is in it’s third week and it’s becoming that marathon that we all anticipated it to be. National Novel Writing Month I can tell you now, is not for the faint hearted. I find myself creeping towards the forty thousand word mark and steadily progressing the first book in the first trilogy. I have decided to take the time out to update you all with the wonderful news that the action has indeed begun in the story and looks set to keep a pace going. I’d often wondered what it would be like trying to convey emotions through the written word for the movie that I had in my head, it is harder than you think. Writers block settles in and your budding author (that’s me, James Pearson) is trying to overcome to problems with it. Steady as I go.
I feel confident that I can get to fifty thousand words though. I’m on track and I love what I am doing, seeing the characters and the story come to life makes it all worth while and I’m looking forward to you reading my fantasy novel when it’s ready. As I said, I hope it could be ready by Christmas. With the help of the publishers http://www.completelynovel.com based in Brighton here in the UK, I know I’ll have a printed copy and the first in existence. And how much of a bonus would that be as a prize in a competition if it hits the mainstream? It could even be signed.
Now onto what you may well waiting for. Yes, as per the title I have the cover art ready for the printer and you will all be the first to see it. Yes, it is designed by me so don’t expect wonders or even to be in awe. But I personally am proud of my book cover. So without further hesitation on my part, below is the book cover.
And so we find ourselves deeper in the boom than before. From twenty thousand words to twenty five thousand plus. It’s becoming more in depth as the characters evolve into their roles. I try and visit some of their pasts as I write about them as I find it helps set the scene. I guess you know you’re onto a good thing when the book mostly writes itself. I’m proud of my work so far, it’s been a wonderful motivator to join Nation Novel Writing Month and it really has propelled me towards my goal of finishing my book.
On top of this I found another great site called CompletelyNovel.com which is a publisher in Brighton, suitably it’s also where I live. I’ve decided to do a photo blog for them as well to help promote my book more. The steps keep moving and everything is moving faster, a pace I love. The Kingmaker will hopefully be available before Christmas to purchase and I’ve also knuckled down and finished the book cover as well.
I’m excited about this and I hope you all are too. As I said in my last post, I will have a competition coming up soon, I’ll let you all know more soon!
Hello everyone! It’s good to be back blogging about The Kingmaker Saga once again. It has been long overdue and a lot has happneed since you last tuned in. As it turns out, I needed some much needed inspiration and motivation to help finish the first book in the saga so The Kingmaker is now part of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) it’s a wonderful program that has gone world wide in its endeavour to help get people writing. This has sincerely helped me get motivated so we find ourselves on chapter 16.
I’m very motivated to get this finished now and I just wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention. I’ll update you more on this soon. I may also have a competition coming up
